🔄 Step-by-Step Guide: Can-Am Ryker Oil Change
1. Warm the Engine
Start your Ryker and let it idle for 5–10 minutes. This warms the oil, making it drain more efficiently.
2. Secure the Vehicle
Park on a level surface and ensure the Ryker is stable. Use wheel chocks or a motorcycle lift if available.
3. Drain Old Oil
-
Remove the oil drain plug underneath the engine using your socket wrench.
-
Let all oil drain into your catch pan.
-
Unscrew and remove the oil filter (usually on the lower side of the engine).
4. Install New Filter & Seals
-
Replace the oil filter and install new O-rings and crush washer.
-
Lightly oil the new filter gasket before installing.
-
Reinstall the drain plug and tighten to the manufacturer’s torque spec.
5. Add New Oil
-
Using a funnel, pour in fresh 5W-40 synthetic oil. Most Ryker models take approximately 3.3–3.5 quarts.
-
Start the engine briefly and check for leaks.
6. Final Check
-
After the engine runs for 30 seconds, shut it off.
-
Wait a minute, then use the dipstick to check the oil level. Top off as needed.
